Kitchen/Bakery Assistant Manager - Edinburgh

Do you want a change and the opportunity to work for an amazing brand, creating some of the most mouth-watering cakes and patisserie? We are looking for a Bakery Assistant Manager to join our friendly and hardworking team in the bakery, where we take pride in the creation of our homemade cakes and pastries.

Supporting our Bakery Manager, you will ensure that all of our products are of a consistently high standard and adequate quantities are produced to meet the needs of the business.

About You:

We are looking for a driven individual who is motivated and passionate about making hand-made cakes and pastries.  To be considered for this position you must meet the following requirements:

  • Having basic pastry and cake making experience is a big advantage.
  • Have a desire to learn and shares our passion for baking high quality cakes.
  • Have a desire to learn new techniques and recipes
  • Driven and determined to be the best and constantly learning.
  • The ability and experience to effectively lead a team.
  • The ability to convert policies into operational actions.
  • An effective communicator with great written and verbal skills.
  • Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of EHO and Food Safety Standards.
  • You need a great HACCP understanding
  • Have a friendly personality.

The Role:

  • To ensure that all Food safety procedures are trained and understood/delivered to team
  • Complete accurate checks prior to production, raising non-compliances to the Manager.
  • Identify all hazards and report near misses as per the H&S policy.
  • Be a ‘Product Quality Champion’ – Actively look for and identify quality issues.
  • Ensure 100% completion and compliance of paperwork to Company standard.
  • Ensure all product produced follows the technical specification and any discrepancies identified are raised to the Manager.
  • Ensure that all raw materials, products and processes adhere to the company traceability throughout your area.
  • Identify & report any issues which may result in shortage against plan, and work with Manager to pull back lost time.
  • Identify and rectify key areas of waste on the production line/process.
  • Manage labour in area of responsibility & know the impact of over usage on cost.
