Commercial Finance Analyst - Asda Logistics Services

About the role:

In ALS Finance we provide the commercial business partnering support to "Asda Logistics Services" (ALS). The ALS team run 39 operations across the UK and NI, with over 12k colleagues and are responsible for the distribution of 1.5bn cases and parcels to Asda's mutli-format and multi-channel customers.

The New Business Development team is focussed on developing and implementing innovative logistics solutions to support the growth of new retail formats and online channels.

We in the finance team pride ourselves on working in real partnership with our ALS customers and offer a great balance of support and challenge in making the big operational and strategic decisions across the function.

We are a fast paced team that can offer experience and development in all areas of business partnering. This role will primarily involve supporting "toyou" - an industry leading eCommerce logistics proposition which is in its relative infancy.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be a key member of the leadership team as the business navigates through a significant growth phase.

The ins and outs:

Financial support to implementation of ALS New Business initiatives including:
  • Finance Leadership in cross functional project meetings
  • Support for business case appraisals, commercial investment and pricing mechanisms
  • Support in the production of the forecast and actual results for the toyou P&L each period
  • Support and ownership of toyou annual P&L planning process and Low Cost Operating Model initiatives
  • Development of reporting to provide timely, accurate and value adding insight
  • Understanding of new systems to unlock new management information
  • Development of project and operational knowledge to help understand emerging Financial risks and opportunities
  • Implementation of robust financial controls to support new business initiatives
What You'll need:
  • Strong Academics and a relevant Accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Strong Commercial acumen
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Relationship building skills across Finance and across other functions
  • Simple and concise communication
  • Confidence to attend and lead cross functional project meetings
  • Ability to influence diverse and challenging stakeholders including senior managers
  • Strong Financial Control background
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise conflicting deadlines
  • An element of travel will be required but this can be managed to support personal circumstances
