What Training Do We Offer

What training do we offer

New staff

All New staff are a priority group, as it is important for them to be integrated into Sports Direct as quickly, and as effectively as possible. It is our Policy that managers of new staff, welcome them when they arrive on their first day. For the rest of that day, the newcomer's manager or a colleague takes the newcomer through the "First Day Induction".

New Managers

New Managers to Sports Direct will attend a full Sports Direct Management Induction at dedicated International Training Centre in Shirebrook. The International Training Centre provides the best, state of the art facilities for our team to flourish into champions and grasp the opportunity to be inspired, stimulated, motivated, and empowered to do a better job. The International Training Centre is also alongside a fully functioning store where any learning can be experienced in a live environment. The Sports Direct Management Induction is residential and lasts for 10 days and consists of a mixture of shop floor based training and classroom centred activities. Typical subjects covered would be merchandising, administration, delivery and end of day process, health and safety, product training, and key retail business skills.

E-Learning

Sports Direct have recently implemented a new, interactive induction programme for all workers in order to generate pride in the company and ensure consistency and structure in training new team members by engaging new starters and re-energise existing teams. In order to achieve this we have developed an online induction programme that would complement existing face-to-face training. The programme was aimed at all new and existing team members in the UK and Europe. We also offer online learning from the brands we deal with to support the product training.

Home Grown

A key resource within The Sports Direct Division, are those team members who want to progress into Branch Management. We recognise that progression is vital to any succession plan. Therefore a key training priority is to assess, identify, train and develop those who display the desire and potential to become effective Branch Managers. There is an annual intake onto our “Home Grown” Talent Management Scheme and once completed, trainees are encouraged to apply for Store Management vacancies which are suitable.
